Reinsurance Accountant

About the role

The Reinsurance Accountant supports the Group Finance function at Monument, with responsibility for the accounting and financial reporting of internal and external reinsurance arrangements. The role supports quarterly close activities, contributes to the ongoing enhancement of reinsurance accounting processes, and helps strengthen reporting capabilities across the Group Finance function. This is a 9 month fixed term contract 

Responsibilities

  • Quarter End delivery support: Assist with reconciliations, reinsurance accounting, quarterly reporting, and issue resolution
  • Process redesign: Streamline process files, reduce manual steps, optimise reporting packs and partner with Actuarial on process enhancements around Profit analysis
  • Reconciliation of Local to Group Anaplan: Complete a data analysis to align Local and Group Anaplan, to create a ‘one source of truth’ ledger
  • Strategic simplification: support strategic changes to MSAC and MRL entities and deals
  • Cedant data process: improve process for handling of cedant data
  • Liaise and build relationships with relevant stakeholders including banks and external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with control and risk frameworks.
  • Regularly liaising with and presenting to external and internal stakeholders across the Group.
  • Ad-hoc reporting and support of projects as required.

Role Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant with a with a minimum 2-3 years’ experience within insurance and /or reinsurance Accounting and Finance
  • Extensive experience in operating general ledgers and data management systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, and be highly organised.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with various teams within the Group.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals and compliance oriented.
  • Proficient experience in accounting software packages e.g., Microsoft Dynamics/Anaplan is an advantage.
