Monument Belgium has a unique business model that consists in acquiring Life Insurance Businesses. We have acquired multiple life portfolios and insurance companies over the last years (Allianz) and 2021 marked a very special year with the acquisition of Integrale SA and an AXA book. We know this requires among other things a specialised skillset in integrating and transforming these companies. We have one of the busiest change agendas in the insurance industry for the coming years. To reach our targets and craft our new target operating model, we have initiated a multi-functional and multi-year Programme. 
Reporting directly to the Monument Belgium Chief Operating Officer, the PMO is a key role in structuring, implementing and monitoring the change agenda of the Belgium entity across our different teams and programmes.
In this specific role you will be at the centre of the change. We are looking for an experienced PMO, who is flexible enough to take on Project Management responsibility if needed. (Life-) Insurance related exposure in the past is not a precondition but a clear differentiating factor.


Being in charge of the planning, day-to-day management, monitoring and successful delivery, on-schedule and on-budget, of our different change programmes covering Transformation, Integrations and Migrations of life insurance portfolios. You will be responsible for:

  • Coordinate the work of and coach our project managers in line with the change methodology and ensure appropriate staffing and stakeholder communication;
  • Based on your background, take the managerial responsibility directly for some initiatives in addition to your PMO responsibilities;
  • Consolidate the “full picture” and actively manage interdependencies across projects and functions. This applies to all phases of the change, including ideation, planning, implementation, monitoring & closing;
  • Manage the corporate change portfolio and counsel the Management Team with regard to the on-boarding priority of new change projects based on your assessment of the business cases. You will support the projects through stage gates and assess their likelihood of success;
  • Elevate deviations from plan and ensure leadership (Belgian management team and group change office) alignment at any time;
  • Grow our change methodology through continuous improvement; and
  • Put in place an expense monitoring framework in close collaboration with the Finance department and ensure the change related expenses are tracked and budgets respected. 

Role Requirements

  • Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) as a policy proven track record as a PMO or in delivering large programs within the Insurance/Financial Industry – programs with multiple sub-projects / workstreams;
  • Post-merger integration experience would be a clear plus;
  • Insurance knowledge/background is highly preferable;
  • Project resource management skills associated with those required in delivering large change within a Global or European corporate environment;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and organization skills. Comfortable communicating with all levels within the organization;
  • High levels of enthusiasm, commitment, and energy required. Results-oriented with a “can-do” attitude –adaptable, flexible and resourceful to work through short and long-term issues;
  • Stakeholder-oriented – Managing and satisfying multiple stakeholders in a fluid environment, translating their needs to realistic goals;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; and
  • Languages – English and French, Dutch is a plus.
